SUSSEX MISSION IN
PARIS - August 1944
In parallel, an unknown aspect of the
"Sussex" missions was the participation of teams that were
integrated into the special unit "T-Force", working for headquarters
of the 12th US Army of General Bradley. Under Colonel Tompkins’
command, these teams had to penetrate into Paris as quickly as
possible. The "T-Force" was American but also included
representatives of the French B.C.R.A. with colonel Rémy.

During this period of insurrection and liberation, the Sussex agents
operated inside and outside of Paris. Guy Wingate was the head of
one of these teams which entered Paris, at the side of the glorious
2nd DB of General Leclerc. Their objective was to locate the files
of the Abwehr quickly and to obtain the list of its agents ready to
collaborate. These teams found the greatest number of files in the
famous Majestic hotel, where a part of German headquarters staff had
been located.
